EMMARENTIA – A woman was robbed and assaulted by four men in her home in Umgeni Road.
According to Parkview police spokesperson Princess Mudau, the woman first noticed the intruders while she was in her lounge that morning.
The four men approached the woman and demanded she give them her jewellery.
“She told them she didn’t have any jewellery. They pulled three rings off her fingers, and slapped her as she prayed. They threatened to shoot her if she did not keep quiet,” said Mudau.
The men, wearing gloves and armed with guns, locked the woman’s husband in the bedroom. They ordered the domestic worker to lie on the floor, and then brought the gardener into the house and ordered the same of him.
“The woman heard one of the men say ‘I found it’ in Sesotho, but she didn’t know what he referred to,” said Mudau.
The men took a pillowcase and filled it with stolen goods including the woman’s husband’s watch and her daughter’s laptop computer.
They then fled in a silver Honda.
The value of the stolen items was estimated at R100 000.
No arrests have been made.
