Laugh for 67 minutes this Mandela Day
SANDTON - An impressive line-up of comedians will entertain guests at the Auto & General Theatre on the Square on 18 July.
In celebration of Mandela Day, the entertainment will last for 67 minutes, with a one-night-only comedy show, 67 Minutes of Laughter.
Comedians include Chris Forrest, Kagiso Lediga, Sifiso Nene, Toll Ass Mo, The Napsta, Jay Boogie, Loyiso Madinga, Alfred Adriaan, Lindzy Msimang, Robbie Collins, Donovan Goliath and Twins On Decks.
“For the past few years, South Africans have been accustomed to the annual ritual of dedicating 67 minutes of their personal time on Mandela Day, to giving back and reaching out to the less privileged,” said theatre owner Daphne Kuhn. “Although we have a wide variety of activities on Mandela Day, we have not yet heard of one that involves the cracking of jokes,” she added.
Not only will the comedians share a 67-minute set on stage, but most of them will also be hitting the streets for 67 minutes to physically sell tickets to the show.
The show has one main objective: to raise money for charity. “Don’t get us wrong, there is nothing funny about a starving or needy child, but we can definitely use comedy to make a difference in children’s lives through initiatives like these,” said founders of the annual 67 Minutes Of Laughter, Napoleon Masinga (also known as The Napsta), Kedibone Mulaudzi and Luyanda Mge.
Doors open at 7.30pm, and the show begins at 8pm. Tickets are priced at an early bird special of R67 at www.strictlytickets.com. Alternatively, tickets can be purchased at the Auto & General Theatre on the Square on the night of the event at R100 per ticket. All proceeds will be donated to the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund.
