According to Parkview police spokesperson Princess Mudau, the attack occurred in a part of the garden near the corner of Beyers Naude Drive and Judith Road.
Mudau said, “While cycling, he came across a big tree that was lying across the path. As soon as he stopped, a man with a knife came from behind. He threatened to stab the cyclist if he did not give him his cellphone.”
The cyclist was trapped between the man and the fence, and could not escape.
“The man grabbed him, took his cellphone out of his pocket, and then fled under the bridge,” she said.
The value of the cellphone was estimated at R2000.
No arrests have been made.
