The woman had opened the gate and front door for her boyfriend, and as she waited for him inside, she saw one of the men enter through the door.
Parkview police spokesperson Princess Mudau said the man wore a balaclava and pointed his gun at the woman.
“She screamed, and he told her to keep quiet as he was there to rob her,” said Mudau.
The man pulled a diamond ring off the woman’s hand, and was then told by one of the other suspects to take her diamond pendant as well. The suspects asked the woman if she had a safe and US dollars.
“The men took her to the main bedroom and kept asking her about jewellery,” said Mudau.
They took a pair of diamond earrings and two jewellery boxes, and as they fled, they took the woman’s handbag as well. The handbag contained a purse, cash, an ID book, a driver’s licence and other cards.
The value of the stolen items was estimated at R100 000.
No arrests have been made.
