Cops nab gunman

Hillbrow police in their stop and search routine patrol swooped a one man in possession of unlicensed firearm.

According to the police the man looked suspicious as he changed his direction when he saw them. Police spokesperson Constable Mduduzi Zondo said the man walked to another direction and the police followed him to the corner of Catherine and Soupa Streets.

Zondo said, “After we stopped and searched him, we found a gun concealed in his waistband.”

He said the suspect had a pistol with live ammunition which he told the police he had picked up in the street. Zondo said the man was arrested and charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm with live ammunition.

He said the 26-year-old suspect was expected to appear at the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court soon.
