The meetings were part of the crime-fighting initiative called community active protection. The initiative aims at keeping tabs on the works of the security companies operating in the suburbs.
And the spokesperson of the initiative Tineke Wulffers said the unity was strength among the community members.
A resident Kamil Ballim said, “We can hold the security provider accountable for services provided and it’s on a cost plus basis which means that we are driving the right behaviours.”
Greenside resident Cuan Mulcahy said, “I like the initiative because it brings people together.”
Peggy Vreken said, “It makes common sense that if there is an operation wider than just your own house, a sharing of information and a co-ordinated effort, it must be safer. And I like the idea of a community effort that everybody works together.”
Initiative’s chief executive officer Mark van Jaarsveld said the project was a community project which required the community to unite and pledge their commitment.
