Parkwood elderly found dead in his house

The decomposed body of an elderly man was discovered lying on the floor of his Parkwood home on November 19.

Rosebank police station commander, Colonel Logan Govender suspected he had been killed in his home about three weeks ago.

Apparently the man lived alone and his identity was withheld as his relatives had not been notified, according to the police.

Govender said, “The neighbours notified the police of the bad smell that came from the elderly man’s house and expressed their concerns as they had not seen him fetch the paper from his yard, which he usually did.”

He added, “Our members had to jump over the fence to gain access to the house and his body was decomposed so badly that they were not able to identify the cause of death on the scene.”

A natural death had been ruled out as the deceased was found lying with his legs tied and he appeared to have been murdered.

“We could also not establish the time of death but evidence has led us to believe that his body had been lying there for about three weeks,” said Govender.
