Street closure could cause disruptions

Due to a a planned building evacuation that will take place at 30 Baker Street on December 4, motorists are warned to be aware of possible disruption to traffic in the vicinity of the building due to road closures.

Cradock Avenue between Bolton and Baker, and on Baker Street between Bath and Cradock will both be closed from 9.30am to 11.30am.

Standard Bank Media Relations, Ross Linstrom, said the closure was to ensure that the evacuation was compliant with regulatory requirements.

“Standard Bank wishes to apologise to residents and commuters who may experience some disruption to traffic flow in and around Cradock and Baker streets,” he said.

Linstrom explained that the company had implemented a number of measures to ensure minimum disruption including having relevant emergency services on site to assist.

“This includes Emergency Services and the Metro police who will both be in attendance for the duration of the planned evacuation and will assist in directing traffic and ensuring the safety of the drill,” he added.

Motorists are advised to manage travel plans in an effort to avoid disruption and possible traffic in and around Baker Street on the day.
