Police looking for armed robber

NORWOOD - Police are investigating an armed robbery case where a Birdhaven resident was robbed of valuables worth thousands of rands.

According to police the resident left her house to take her child to school. Upon return the resident allegedly found a man inside her property. Police spokesperson Constable Nonzwakazi Tsoanyane said, “The suspect was armed with a firearm.”

Tsoanyane said the suspect pointed the firearm at the homeowner and demanded she handover her handbag. “The suspect took jewellery to the value of R8 000 before fleeing the scene,” she said.

The suspect apparently gained access to the property by forcing the gate open. Tsoanyane appealed to members of the public who may have information that could lead to an arrest to come forward.
