Explore nature’s wonders at Melville Koppies
MELVILLE - The summer holidays have come and gone, peaceful streets are again inundated with Joburg traffic, and residents are picking up the pace for bigger and better things this year.
Melville Koppies Nature Reserve provides the perfect escape from the coalface, and this February will offer guided walks, hikes and dog-walks for those seeking a chance to breathe easy.
On 1 February, enjoy a walk with dogs on Melville Koppies West at 8am. Parking will be available in the 3rd Avenue cul-de-sac off Arundel Road, Westdene.
On 2 February, a guided walk on Melville Koppies Central will take place at 3pm. Park at Marks Park Sports Club, Judith Road, Emmerentia, opposite the koppies’ entrance.
9 February will see another guided walk on Melville Koppies Central, this time at 8.30am. Parking will be available at Marks Park Sports Club.
On 16 February, those who missed the Melville Koppies Central guided walks can explore the natural wonders of the site at 3pm. Parking will be available at Marks Park Sports Club.
On 23 February, a three-koppie hike will begin at Melville Koppies Central at 8.30am. Park at Marks Park Sport Club, opposite the koppies’ entrance.
