Agreement reached on Bompas development
Almost a year after the 1 Bompas building saga caused outrage, residents of Dunkeld West may be pleased to know that the Craighall Residents' Association was able to reach an agreement with the developer.
According to Wendy McAllister, the deputy chair of communications for the association, the agreement still needs to be finalised and confirmed by the city council, but the association is pleased with the terms agreed upon.
The 1 Bompas office complex sparked an outcry from the residents’ association after issues were raised about the size of the building, the impact it would have on traffic congestion, and concerns around the approval of the building plans.
“The settlement agreement is still in progress, although we have a definite agreement with the developer about the complex,” added McAllister.
Gordon McKay, the councillor for Dunkeld West, praised the residents’ association for what they have achieved.
McKay fadded that “the [city] council will have to decide if they will, in future, give the same limitations to other buildings”.
McAllister said that the association is pleased that an agreement has finally been reached. “All the association wants is to find an amicable solution with the developer,” added.
When contacted, owner of the controversial development at 1 BompasRoad Stuart Grant refused to discuss the negotiations because, according to him, both parties agreed to not discuss anything with the media but rather release a joint statement after the agreement was signed.
