At around 20:40 on 7 April three suspects, captured on CCTV video footage driving a gold Opel Astra, arrived at the main gate of the premises in Bompas Road. They allegedly broke the gate motor and put the gate on manual, opened the gate and drove onto the property.
The suspects went to the back door of the residence, forced open the burglar bars and wooden door with a pick-axe and went inside. A staff member on the property saw what was happening and phoned ADT. Reaction officers, Dominique Dire and Victor Molefe, arrived at the scene shortly afterwards.
The suspects then fled the scene and left behind their vehicle. Rosebank police took possession of the abandoned vehicle.
Clive Humphrey, managing director of ADT Central Region, applauded the officers for their prompt arrival at the premises to interrupt the burglary.
“The staff member on the premises also did the responsible thing by contacting ADT when he saw the suspects breaking into the house. Clients are encouraged to supply all staff members with a panic button to enable us to react to an emergency quickly,” he said.
