Domestic worker on the run after beating employers’ child – VIDEO
HOUGHTON – A domestic worker is on the run after she was allegedly caught on CCTV beating up her employers’ 15-month-old baby.
According to the mother, she and her husband decided to view their house’s video footage. (Watch the footage below).
To their surprise they saw the domestic worker beating up their 15-month-old baby. The mother said she double checked and saw the domestic worker beating the child with a hanger.
The parents then decided to keep an eye on the domestic worker, and started to notice the poor handling of her child. She alleged her employee was negligent of the child. The mother said the child was left unattended and played with the water in the toilet bowl.

She said the last straw was when the domestic worker allegedly left the floor polish open and the child swallowed the polish and some coins.
The domestic worker allegedly just said, ‘I am sorry’.
The mother also stated that the domestic worker once hit her child on the head with the cord of an iron – after the mom had told her not to iron while the child was around.
She asked her to leave and opened a case with Norwood police, saying she wanted justice for her child and that the domestic should prosecuted for her actions.
Norwood police spokesperson, Constable Nonzwakazi Tsoanyane said police were hunting for the woman.
Tsoanyane, who also heads the station’s social crimes prevention unit, advised employers to take all the personal details of their domestic workers, including identity documents or passports in the case of foreign nationals, and to make copies of those documents.

“That would make it easy for police to trace the suspects,” she said.
She also advised parents to monitor their children’s relationship with domestic workers.
“A child spends so much time with domestic workers, there should be a close bond between them, but if that is non-existent, you must a smell a rat. That can be one of the signs that there is something wrong with your domestic worker,” said Tsoanyane.
