Steve Hofmeyr threatens puppet with legal action
TWITTERBUZZ - Singer Steve Hofmeyr threatens to sue Chester Missing, a puppet.
This followed a wide social media reaction received after Hofmeyr posted a tweet on Twitter accusing black people of being the architects of apartheid.
He tweeted: @steve_hofmeyr “Sorry to offend but in my books Blacks were the architects of Apartheid. Go figure.”
Puppet Chester Missing, along with many twitter users, fired back at the singer calling him racist.

Missing started a campaign on Twitter to “Isolate racists and companies associating with them/sponsoring them”.
Pick n Pay, a sponsor of one of the events at which Hofmeyr will be performing also took to Twitter to condemn the singer’s comments on Twitter as to avoid being directly linked to the singer.

The retail company released a statement saying, “We have got caught up in this issue because we sponsor a festival of concerts which feature many other artists and bring much pleasure to a lot of people. Although we do not have any influence over who performs at these concerts, we have made it clear to the organisers our total opposition to Steve Hofmeyr’s comments. They have confirmed that he is still scheduled to perform.”
Other companies such as Woolworths and Land Rover SA are also in the firing line as they appear to sponsor the singer in some way. Missing has called onto them to #Un-steve themselves.

Hofmeyr has in-turn threatened to get a protection order against the puppet which has caused a stir on social media.
Missing has since been on a rant with Twitter users from different races and as well as media representatives supporting his stance against Hofmeyr and his “racist” remarks.
