Abandoned building turns away park users

JOBURG - THE PUBLIC toilets located on the corner of Tregoning and Protea streets have been left abandoned for six months.

Over the six months, rubbish has increased, the roof has started to cave in, water supply to the toilets have ceased, the grass outside has grown considerably and the odour has become unbearable.

Local resident Kevin Banks said, “The toilets are absolutely disgusting, the smell alone is bothering the users of the park. I am sure it is attracting rodents. I have emailed City Parks a few times. I do not know who to turn to.”

King David Linksfield have a lease with City Parks whereby they use the field that the toilets are located on, however they are not responsible for the maintenance of the building.

Ward councillor Steven Kruger, said, “I have contacted City Parks, and there are a few issues relating to parks in the area that I am in the process of dealing with.”
