Parkhurst florist aims to make Parkhurst community bright and vibrant

Okuhle Nyanga blooms in Parkhurst bringing her new floral studio to the community.

Parkhurst entrepreneur Okuhle Nyanga hopes her newly launched floral studio will bring joy to her customers, while contributing to the vibrancy of her neighbourhood.

Nyanga invested her heart into creating a floral studio that offers beautiful, thoughtfully designed arrangements to become a trusted part of the community.

“The business was inspired by my passion for flowers,” said the entrepreneur. “They bring life to any room and boost my mood, and I hope they’ll do that for the next person.”

Nyanga explained that her mother inspired her entrepreneurial journey.

“My childhood was not the easiest. I come from humble beginnings where my mom was a single parent,” she said. “This is also where I drew my entrepreneurial skills from. My mom was a domestic worker and is currently a caregiver in the UK, so her qualities of hard work stood out for me while I was growing up.”

She added that independence also fuelled her passion for business. “I was always taught to create chances and opportunities for myself,” she said. “I was told to never wait to be given things. I am the type of person who will always have a plan B if A doesn’t work.”

Nyanga noted that she also established a beauty and skincare business three years ago. “I can admit that I haven’t been putting in effort in my business because it could have been far in its performance,” she said. “It has also been a struggle to juggle the business while being married and having three children who I had to pay attention to.”

She concluded that although the journey was fulfilling, the inception stage brought unforeseen circumstances and uncertainties.

“An observation I have made thus far in this journey is that you won’t always be supported by your friends, but by random strangers who you meet and are willing to bet on your success,” she said.
