Bust pipe nightmare
JOBURG - ANOTHER municipal burst pipe has caused substantial damage to private property, with residents of Grabor Road in Formain experiencing flooding on 10 January.
Resident Angela Hobson’s property was damaged as a result of the large quantity of water from the burst pipe. Hobson said, “10 January was the absolute worst. I contacted both Joburg Connect and Joburg Water at 11am and they sent workers out at 7.30pm!” Angela’s driveway collapsed and her house was flooded. Her neighbours also came forward with issues regarding the flooding.
Hobson contacted ward councillor Steven Kruger, who managed to assist outside of his ward. He said, “We have had a very poor response from Joburg Water for a couple of months. November, December and January have been particularly bad. The best way to handle this issue is to go through the communicators.”
Details: Ward Councillor for Formain, Margaret Radebe; 083 478 4155.
