FERREIRASDORP - Food market, Sheds @1Fox has gained much popularity among Joburg market-goers.
From sit-down café style markets to takeaways, this Joburg food market brimming with character offers food lovers affordable street food. The
market is the brainchild of inner-city ambassador, Gerald Garner.
“I visited the site for the first time with the property owner, the Johannesburg Land Company. I happen to lease my office for my JoburgPlaces business from them, and they then showed me some of the other properties they own in town,” he said.
“I immediately realised the warehouses at 1 Fox had incredible historic value and so much potential for refurbishment. It was just perfect for a food market.”
Garner is renowned for his JoburgPlaces book, and his tours of the City of Gold.
Garner believes the market has gained much traction because of the younger crowd that is embracing the rejuvenation of the inner city.
Sihle Thango, one of the market’s patrons said what she loved most about the market was that it was much bigger than most, and had adequate space for sitting and enjoying the range of food available.
If one is looking for is delicious on-the-go food including gourmet burgers, paella, homemade ice cream, raw chocolate and tartlets, then heading to this market on any Saturday morning may be the best way to spend the morning with friends or family.
Beer lovers will love the range of craft beer available at the market.
