Clamber Club at Jabula Recreational Centre in Sandringham
SANDRINGHAM - The Clamber Club is a perceptual and sensory motor programme for parents and their babies ranging from nine months to three years of age.
The programme is motor orientated, focusing primarily on perceptual motor skills like body awareness, spatial skills, eye hand and eye foot co-ordination, and motor planning, among other vital developing skills.
Ruth Beinart said, “The club is a place for you and your child to have fun together, and to spend quality, stimulating time with each other. There is always something new and different outside for you and your child to play on and to experience. We do lots of singing, dancing, exercises and have colourful props to keep your little one focused and interested. Every week your little one will meet Jog the Frog, our exercise and fitness mascot.”
The classes are divided age appropriately and have been developed by occupational therapist Liz Senior.
The lessons consist of four nine-week terms a year. Each lesson is once a week and is 1 hour and 15 minutes long. It consists of a 30-min indoor session, and the rest of the session is outside.
Ruth Beinart added, “Three times a term, we have amazing theatrical themes that aim to introduce your child to his world, develop new vocabulary and increase his/her general knowledge.”
Clamber Club lessons are held at the Jabula Recreation Centre located on the corner of Anne Street and Athlone Avenue in Sandringham.
