Pirates Bowls Club lawns were busier than usual for the shantjies semi-finals

Pirates Club social bowls take place every Sunday from 09:00am to 12:30pm.

Pirates Bowls Club members came out in numbers on June 28 for the club’s shantjies semi-finals, a social bowls competition.

On the day, bowlers turned out in their red and blue club T–shirts, focusing on the jack and holding their stance on the mats as they gave their best in the semi–finals.

Kibi Ramatsuma, who was in his second year of bowling, said the friendly competition was tough but fun.

“Today’s competition was difficult because I played against a man who was last year’s champion. I did my best, although I ended up losing to my partner.”

His opponent, Mark McManus, said playing against Ramatsuma was challenging, although he ended up winning.

“Kibi has only been playing for a year but has superb talent; he gave me a good challenge, and it was fun overall.”

Pirates Club social bowls take place every Sunday from 09:00am to 12:30pm and are open to all ages.

There is also a first-class café on site that provides hot beverages and healthy breakfasts, plus an outdoor play facility for children that they can enjoy.
