Snyman won the elections with a resounding victory of 92.49 percent against her counterparts, Philani Mabatha of the African National Congress (ANC) and Sidney Anolik of the Congress of the People.
Snyman said that the first order of business in her role as a councillor would be to fight for quicker turnaround time for resolution of issues reported to the City of Johannesburg. “My absolute focus is to achieve a level of service in Ward 73 that means that people are safe, roads and infrastructure are properly maintained, neighbourhoods are clean, and natural and historic sites are preserved. It is about ensuring that the city delivers on the bread and butter issues of local government,” she said.
With many developmental initiatives planned for the next few years as part of the Spatial Development Plans of the city, Snyman believes that it is vital that residents should be properly consulted before plans for developments are finalised. “I believe that the residents know their suburbs better than anyone else and their input is vital to ensure that developments are done in a manner that benefits the whole community,” said Snyman.
Snyman added that she is committed to the residents of Ward 73 and to ensuring that their voices are heard and that their concerns are dealt with timeously.
