WATCH : Charlotte Maxeke woes continue

JOBURG - The woes at Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital have continued after recent reports revealed that it might be at risk of collapsing as there are structural defects and the X-ray department should be evacuated.

According to Jack Bloom, DA Gauteng Shadow Health MEC, a report on structural defects at the Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Hospital indicates that there are structural defects on the fifth floor of the building and it may cost R50 million to repair the building.

In August, Gauteng MEC for Health Qedani Mahlangu said, as an interim measure the hospital will refer gallbladder operations to its sister hospital, Helen Joseph.

According to Eyewitness News Gauteng’s Chief Engineer Tsepo Matekane said he is in the process of giving the go ahead for a deflected slab at the Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital to be fixed.
