Ward 72 councillor, Steven Kruger, has raised his concern about a number of issues.
The park is said to undergo two phases during its upgrades. The first phase involves installing play equipment and benches. Kruger said the upgrades of the first phase were set to end in August and said,”It’s still not complete and there is a serious concern regarding the way City Parks selects its contractors.”
The second phase of the project includes a running track, outdoor gym equipment, improved drainage and repair of the nearby dam wall found at the park.
Kruger met with senior management from City Parks and said, “There seems to be a payment issue with the contracts and subcontractors.” Since the meeting with City Parks, Kruger said the project has been postponed until all the issues have been resolved between the contractors.
A local resident, who wishes to remain anonymous, raised her concern about the safety of the park. She emphasized on the importance of clean and safe parks.
The North Eastern Tribune recently visited Cheltondale Park that stretches between Orchards Road and African Street, where major upgrades have been done, creating a pleasant experience for all those who visit the park.
