Flying squad members chase suspects through streets of Rosebank, 8 March:
Video footage surfaced of a high-speed chase between police flying squad members and suspected hijackers in Rosebank. The driver of the vehicle the suspects were travelling in, lost control and proceeded to crash into a tree. The suspects attempted to flee but were caught by police after a shootout ensued.

Men wanted for questioning for alleged anti-Semitic attack, 31 March
Three Jewish youths were allegedly attacked by three unknown assailants, in what appeared to be an anti-Semitic incident. The suspects were estimated to be between the ages of 18 and 23 and were captured on surveillance cameras at the Zone in Rosebank. They were seen following the Jewish youngsters immediately after the altercation before hastily leaving the mall in a white BMW 4 series.

Chopped-up body found in Killarney, 14 April:
The remains of a woman were found in plastic bags after a passerby noticed an arm protruding from a bag on Newtown Avenue.

Bus crash on Jan Smuts Avenue; multiple patients, 24 April:
Two buses collided head-on. It appeared that the bus hit a curb when driving in a turning lane on the road and it is believed that the driver over-compensated and collided with another oncoming bus. Three commuters were fatally injured in the collision which took place on Jan Smuts Avenue near Zoo Lake.

Resident shoots at robbers, 20 May:
A video was posted on social media of an attempted robbery where the supposed victims defended themselves by shooting at the would-be robbers. It was initially thought that the footage was taken in Johannesburg, but it was later discovered that the footage was taken in Brazil.

Klara Göttert – teen asked on date on day of suicide, 13 August:
Klara Göttert took her own life at the tender age of 14. The mother of a friend of the suicide victim revealed information about her final day, which may indicate that her suicide was planned. According to the mother who wished to remain anonymous, Gottert was asked by two boys at school about how she would feel if one of the boys asked her out. She, however, went on to say that it was a pity that she would not be on this earth for long.

Road rage fight in Parktown caught on camera, 21 August:
A video surfaced of an apparent road rage incident outside McAuley House School in Parktown. According to the details posted below the video, it is believed that someone was stabbed during the incident.

French bank falls victim to armed robbery and kidnap attempt, 17 November:
An unknown number of suspects armed with assault rifles used the elevator in the building. When the elevator doors opened, a man who worked in the building was at the elevator doors. The suspects and the man were startled. The suspects then attempted to grab the man, allegedly trying to kidnap him.
