Hidden garden at 70 Juta
JOBURG - If you’re familiar with Joburg, chances are you’ve seen one of the hidden gems and secret spaces in the city.
One of the most popular hidden spots in Johannesburg can be found nestled between a number of popular stores in Braamfontein. This is 70 Juta Street which is one of the Play Braamfontein locations – Play Braamfontein being an initiative by founder, Adam Levy, to introduce more fun and dynamic places to Braamfontein and create beauty in the urban spaces of the city.
While most people are familiar with the rooftop venue at 70 Juta, there are significantly fewer people who know about the secret garden on the ground level.
Surrounding the garden are Post café, Parooz clothing store, Timeless Electric tattoo parlour and Pichi Pichi Sushi Bar.
There are only three entrances into the secret hangout and those are through the back doors of Post and Pichi Pichi Sushi Bar, and the small passage through which boards direct the public to the entrance of Parooz.
As one of the Play Braamfontein locations, the garden is set up with benches and chairs where Braamies can socialise, drink their Post coffee and enjoy their Pichi Pichi Sushi in a serene environment and listen to the soft sounds of music.
The location can only accommodate a small number of people at any given time, but that’s what adds to the semi-private and secluded allure of the space.
The entrances of Parooz and Timeless Electric can only be found through this secret garden space.
The garden and one of the spaces to let in the square are currently undergoing renovations in preparation for the new year and a new tenant.
City Buzz is not yet sure which cool and trendy store will make 70 Juta its home, but we can be certain that Braamfontein is where the fun is at.
