52 arrested for driving under the influence and illegal gambling

BRAMLEY – Bramley police nab 52 for offences over the past week, including drunken driving.

Scores of suspects were recently arrested by Bramley police for various crimes committed within the precinct.

The 52 suspects were arrested for offences including driving under the influence and illegal gambling.

Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, spokesperson for Bramley Police Station, explained that most of the arrests were made for drunken driving. “The police, together with Metro police, recently held a roadblock operation on Corlett Drive, just before the M1 off-ramp, and managed to successfully arrest 45 people for drunken driving,” Maphakela explained.

Five more people were nabbed by police officers for assault, while two people were arrested after they were found gambling illegally. Maphakela confirmed that all 52 suspects were detained at Bramley Police Station.

“All the suspects were charged for the various offences and have since made an appearance in court to face their respective charges,” Maphakela said.
