Bramley police recently nabbed a man accused of attempted murder in Kew.
The shocking incident unfolded as the accused, Godfrey Zulu, along with the victims, Mfanawethu Ndlovu and his brother Stanley, were hanging out at a drinking spot.
According to Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, spokesperson for Bramley Police Station, as the three were socialising, Zulu allegedly asked to borrow Stanley’s car.
“Stanley agreed to this but shortly after, as Zulu got into the car, an argument ensued between him and Ndlovu over the use of the car,” Maphakela said.
“According to Zulu, Ndlovu then allegedly assaulted him, hitting him with a beer bottle over the head and causing him injuries.”
Ndlovu then drove off in his brother’s car but was later found by the accused, who confronted him over the incident.
Maphakela explained that at that point, a fight broke out between the two and Zulu allegedly grabbed Ndlovu and stabbed him with a bottle.
“The matter was then reported to the police, who then arrested Zulu and detained him at Bramley Police Station,” he said.
Zulu was charged with attempted murder and appeared in the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court, where the matter was postponed to 7 July.
