A projector for law officers

PARKVIEW – Parkview Police Station receives a generous gift from residents' association.

Parkview Police Station recently received a projector from members of the Parktown North Residents’ Association.

Lee Young, the association’s administrator, said the police station’s boardroom hosts a number of weekly meetings with relevant security companies which she attends and during one of these it came to their attention that the boardroom was due for an upgrade.

“The former station commander, Colonel Kubone mentioned they needed a projector specifically,” said Young.

“We put the request out and Parrot Products, a supplier of presentation and signage products, was very generous and they supplied and installed the projector on our behalf for the police.”

She said that even though the association was looking at doing more for the police station, the focus is currently on the boardroom. “The boardroom is key for many meetings. Detectives sit here and brainstorm, so it’s a well-used area and in need of attention and that’s why we’ve started there.”

In addition to the projector, Young said the association had managed to put up a map which had been leaning against the wall for many years. “We have had it installed by a resident who offered [to help], and now we are trying to secure sponsorship for the paint work.”

According to Young, the association has approached a number of paint suppliers, but is yet to receive a positive response. “We are sending the request out there for suppliers of paint. We don’t need a lot, the boardroom will need about 20 litres.”

Once the walls have been painted, the curtains in the boardroom will be next on the list. “The curtains need cleaning. It’s quite large drapery and we are going to need to get those dry cleaned and refitted.”
