Cut branches left by City Parks baffle Glenhazel residents

GLENHAZEL – Councillor criticises City Parks for lack of service delivery.

Frustrated residents are calling out to Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo for leaving a pile of cut branches lying around at the Glenhazel Japanese Gardens Park.

The branches were allegedly left there, following the trimming of the park’s trees and are said to have been there for several months.

Ward 72 councillor, Steven Kruger explained that there had been numerous complaints regarding the branches from residents living close to the park. “It’s a sight for sore eyes, and despite numerous attempts to get City Parks out to remove them and clean up the area, nothing has happened,” he explained.

“Service delivery has become so poor with entities such as City Parks and it often takes many follow-ups before something is done about the issues reported to them.” Kruger called on the City to improve its service delivery, especially with smaller issues to avoid them escalating into bigger ones.

Responding to this was Jenny Moodley, spokesperson for City Parks, who confirmed that the entity was aware of the issue brought up by Kruger. “A team has been dispatched to remove the tree branches and we’re hoping to complete the clean-up as soon as possible,” she said.

Moodley concluded by urging residents to report service issues as soon as possible to ensure they are resolved in a timely manner.
