You can run but you can’t escape

YEOVILLE – A man in possession of a dangerous weapon finds himself behind bars.

A man in his late 30s was arrested on 12 July at about 4pm on the corner of Hendon and Kenmere streets in Yeoville after a gas gun was found in his possession.

Constable Thabo Malatji of Yeoville Police Station said, “Police officers were on a routine patrol when they spotted two suspicious-looking men standing on the street corner.

“When police stopped the two males, they ran in different directions. The police managed to apprehend one suspect. They found a gas gun and pepper spray in his possession.”

The suspect was arrested and detained at Yeoville Police Station. He will appear in Hillbrow Magistrates’ Court soon facing charges of possession of a dangerous weapon.

The suspect has allegedly been linked to five other robberies committed this year.

The second suspect is still at large.
