Resident catches thief in the act

KEW – Suspect's burglary attempt thwarted by vigilant resident.

A Kew resident managed to thwart an attempted burglary at her home.

Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, spokesperson for Bramley Police Station said, “As the resident was preparing for bed, she heard footsteps from another room.

“The resident then alleged that she heard someone trying to force the door open and at that point switched on the lights.”

It was then that she spotted the suspect holding a torch in his hand and when he spotted her the man fled.

Maphakela confirmed that the matter was reported at Bramley Police Station.

Nothing was taken from the house during the incident.

“We can confirm that only the door was damaged, but we are still investigating the matter and looking for the suspect in connection with this burglary incident,” he said.
