UPDATE: Mine workers march to Sasol’s head office in Rosebank

ROSEBANK - The Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union condemn the CEO of petrochemical giant Sasol for his annual salary of R47m.

Around 1,500 Sasol workers from Sasol operations in Secunda marched to the head office in Rosebank, to hand over a memorandum on 8 September.

Joseph Mathunjwa, Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (Amcu) president, said that
Sasol CEO David Constable should be jailed for receiving an annual salary of R47m when workers are earning peanuts.
However, Sasol is now run by joint presidents and CEOs Bongani Nqwababa and Stephen Cornell. The two took their positions in July, taking over from Constable. Amcu was referring to Constable’s 2015 salary of R47m.
