Youngster showcases talent and skill during championships
HOUGHTON – MSSA championships showcases young talent.
Mind Sport South Africa (MSSA) recently hosted its Johannesburg Regional Championships which saw St John’s College, Roedean School, Old Edwardian Wargames Club and Riverview Mind Sports Club going head-to-head in a battle of the minds.

MSSA, an affiliate of the South African Confederation of Sport and Olympic Committee, which is responsible for the good governance and promotion of board games, said the number of entrants for the championship was rather disappointing; however, the tournament was a success and young talent excelled.
Jason Batzofin, from St John’s College Club, who was sitting at number three on the rankings table, climbed to number two, underlining his ability to compete, both on the Wargames table and in eSports.

Garth Schoeman of Knight Mind Sports Club retained his position as the top-ranked player. Terence Allwright and Batzofin, both shared second place at the championships. The club is looking forward to an exciting SA Nationals to be hosted by HTS Witbank School on 3 and 4 December.
