Image and fashion are her passions

JOBURG – True beauty comes into focus as a local entrepreneur sets on a journey of discovery.

Years of hard work in the fashion industry have culminated in the realisation of one fashionable dream for a fashionable local.

Tendai Marowa is a Zimbabwean-born beauty who has the world at her feet.

Having completed two fashion qualifications in Australia and returned to South Africa to continue her work in the textile industry, she has more than 11 years of fashion experience under her belt and she’s putting all those years to good use.

She is the mastermind behind The Legacy of True Beauty, an institution that seeks to engage, empower and transform young aspiring designers into established designers whose works are worthy of global recognition.

“We have realised the need to disengage communities from the ties and bonds that are restrictive in enabling them to maximise their potential and reach for the stars,” she said.

“We are a non-profit organisation that sees the need to be most engaged and involved with women, men and young girls and we seek to take a uniformed approach to nurturing and developing and impacting our focus groups in a range of areas and aspects.”

Marowa also hopes to inspire and empower young people to achieve their life goals. She is also creating a development agency for aspiring young designers and unknown brands and artists, and becoming her own style house using the skills she’s gained in the fashion industry.

“We seek to change the concept of what the media portrays about celebrity image and the notion of beauty, focusing on unknown brands and celebrating everyday heroes,” she said.

Her fashion philosophy is to always portray style, elegance and class.

“That’s what appeals to me about a woman; I’m not taken by looks but your confidence and how you carry yourself is important. Being comfortable in your own skin is key,” she added.

“Nothing makes a woman more beautiful than the belief that she is indeed beautiful; be your own muse.”

Making people beautiful is what she loves and lives by – and with all her hard work she’ll soon be a household name in fashion and image consultation.
