The station commander, Colonel Theledi Gopane said, “Today we are here to make sure that the legacy Mandela left us is carried on. We need to assist each other and help our communities.

“The South African Police Services at Parkview together with our victim support unit and the community members who always assist us, can together to make our contribution to Mandela Day.”

Debbi Burman, the co-coordinator of the Victim Support Unit at the Parkview police said, “We’re here to help the police and paint the fence. We also helped collect clothes for Princess Alice.”

Some of the items donated by residents include much-needed nappies and baby food.
