Park Care Centre raffle to raise money for hospital transport vehicle
PARKTOWN – The centre has to purchase a new hospital transport vehicle after the previous vehicle was written off.
The Park Care Centre is selling raffle tickets for a cruise to Mozambique in order to raise money for a much-needed hospital transport vehicle.
The Volkswagen Caddy of the centre, which cares for 320 patients who are elderly, frail or disabled, was written off in March this year and the centre couldn’t transport patients and care givers to and from the hospital and urgent appointments.
Jacqui Smith, the business development officer for Park Care told Rosebank Killarney Gazette because the vehicle is so essential they have decided to purchase a nine-seater Hyundai and reallocate funds intended for nursing to purchase the vehicle.

Smith added that they are hoping the money raised from the raffle will allow them to recoup the money spent on the vehicle.
The raffle prize includes a three-night cruise to the Portuguese Islands in Mozambique and includes return air tickets from Johannesburg to Durban as well as meals, entertainment and some drinks on the cruise.
The winner will be announced on 29 September and the cruise will take place from 10 to 13 November.
Smith added that there will be 2 000 raffle tickets for sale at R50 each which will contribute to the money spent on the vehicle.
