Four suspects sought for armed robbery with rifles

PARKVIEW – The Parkview police are working in unison with Rosebank police in search of 4 suspects armed with rifles in connection with a recent robbery.

A case of armed robbery was opened at the Parkview Police Station following an incident in which a cell phone shop owner was robbed of money on Barry Hertzog Avenue during peak traffic hours on 15 May.

The shop owner, driving a Corsa bakkie and with a passenger, was apparently collecting money from his cell phone shops. A white Mercedes Benz, suspected to have been following him, cut him off and four armed suspects allegedly started shooting at the driver and passenger using rifles.

Rosebank Police Station spokesperson, Sergeant Bongi Mdletshe said, “No one was harmed during the [shooting]… the suspects made away with an undisclosed amount of money.

“The suspects are still at large and we appeal to members of the public with footage of the incident to come forward so that it can assist us in catching the suspects.”

Anyone with any information can contact Parkview Police Station on 011 486 5000 or Rosebank Police Station on 011 778 4700.
