#PleaseShare: Elections for new crime forum team to be held at Norwood cop shop
NORWOOD – Forms are already available at the Norwood Police Station and the deadline is 22 October.
Residents interested in the well-being of their community are urged to participate in the activities earmarked to combat criminals in the suburbs.
The elections of the Sector 4 crime forum, which is a wing of the community policing forum, are expected to take place soon within the Norwood policing precinct.
According to sector coordinator at the Norwood Police Station, Sergeant Rubzani Malovhele, the elections are expected to take place on 1 November. Malovhele said the process has started with the nomination forms already available at their station. The deadline for submission is 22 October.
“The deadline is already closing in and we want the community, especially those who stand to be nominated, to start preparing by filling out the forms,” he said.
“Here we are talking about residents, business people and those who work in our Norwood police precinct.”
Malovhele mentioned Orange Grove, Victoria, Linksfield, Linksfield Ridge, Sydenham, Mountain View, and The Ridge among others. “We are trying to establish a working relationship between the police and the community that we serve in our quest to combat crime in their areas.
“We want them to have an overview of crime in their suburbs in a neighbourhood watch ways of preventing and fighting crime together.”
This, he said will also create a central communication with other law enforcement agencies including private security companies.
The elections take place every five years and residents who stand to be nominated are urged to collect their forms at the station and return them back by no later than 22 October.
