26 October: Diary of Side Chick – Makhwapheni book launch
African Flavour Books, Egavas Media and Bula Buka are set to launch and celebrate Diary of a Side Chick – Makhwapheni, book one and two by Lesego Maake. With drinks and snacks on offer, the conversation will be led by Lunga Ncala in an attempt to discover how Lesego Maake, a male, began writing about a ‘side chick’ series that now has fans across the world.
27 October: Atacama Dream
Inspired by the barren, arid desert, Atacama Dream is an experience which connects through the sultry sounds from faraway lands. Accessible and dreamy, warm and welcoming, prepare to be blown away with a new experience that expands your horizons and opens your heart. 27 October: 5 For Change
The 5 For Change is dedicated to advancing social change in South Africa while changing the way people give back. This year’s 7th Annual Gala will be the first one in Johannesburg and will be held on 27 October at The Station in Newtown. Every year, the organisation selects five innovative, impactful and inspiring social enterprises to raise funds and awareness for at their Black Tie Gala as well as support through their Catalyst Programme. 28 October: MozamJozi
Hosted at The Thunder Walker in Ghandi Square, the MozamJozi picnic returns to the City for a chilled and relaxed Sunday in the sun. Spilling over into the evening with delectable food, drinks and amazing DJs. Tickets available on www.joburgplaces.com from R90 – R100.
28 October: Screenings of the Colour Wine
Directed by Akin Omotoso, The Colour Wine tells the story of South Africa’s transition to democracy through the lens of the wine industry and the journeys of winemakers Ntsiki Biyela, Dumisani Mathonsi, Carmen Stevens and Unathi Mantshongo. The Bioscope in Maboneng is set to screen the documentary filled with a cast of rich and colourful characters from the wine community, winemakers, entrepreneurs, drinkers and tasters.
