Keep your kids safe on the road this festive season

The fastest growing online parenting portal in South Africa, Baby Yum Yum warns parents to make the safety of their children their top priority when travelling on the road this festive season.

Baby Yum Yum founder and chief mommy Amanda Rogaly said, “Parents need to teach their children to take in the fact that a road is a dangerous place. Parents need to respect the road rules and be considerate of those around them.”

Baby Yum Yum visited a number of crèches during Transport Month in October to raise awareness about safety on the roads.

Rogaly explained that baby-on-board stickers were not primarily for the purpose of ensuring safe driving around motorists with children in their cars, but rather to inform emergency personnel of the possibility that there was a child in the vehicle if an accident took place.

Rogaly also said that parents must remember to keep their children in car seats from birth, make sure that they (the drivers) were always alert and awake and ensure that their children were safely strapped in so that they did not provide a distraction on the road.
