Joburg East Cluster shares Easter safety message with Yeoville children

YEOVILLE – For a safer Easter holiday, the Joburg East Cluster shared safety tips with some of the children of Yeoville.


The Joburg East Cluster shared their Easter safety message as well as a little treat to the children of Yeoville Community School, Greenfield Primary School and Foundation Learning Academy.

This is thanks to Rosebank Police Station, Yeoville Police Station and Hillbrow Police Station, Cleveland Police Station and Norwood Police Station.

According to the spokesperson of Rosebank Police Station, Sergeant Bongi Mdletshe, they decided to share the Easter safety message in Yeoville because of the children that they have dealt with in the past as they handed them school shoes and uniforms which assisted where there was a need.

“We were accompanied by a local pastor as to introduce divine intervention in our local schools who prayed for all the children teachers and police for safety during the Easter holidays.”

Mdletshe explained that safety tips were their talk for the day. “Remember some of these children will be travelling with their parents during these holidays and due to the rate of children being kidnapped in the country, these safety tips are very important for the children to know.”

He stated that going towards the long weekend, the election vehicle check points will be conducted, drunk and driving operations, visibility in all national roads this will serve as a safety precaution to all the citizens of the country.

These were the safety tips Mdletshe provides:

  • Always be close to whomever you are travelling with, whether on train, bus or taxi.
  • Don’t enter into a stranger’s vehicle.
  • Report any abuse from home whether emotional or physical to your teachers.
  • Stop bullying as it can escalate to gangsterism in the school.
  • Refrain from stealing as it can lead to shoplifting, arrest and a criminal record.
