“I’d like to say thank you to everyone who voted for me. A big thank you to Royal Union Saint-Gilloise players and staff for the achievement, I share with y’all. To the supporters, thank you for a warm welcome to the club at the start of the season,” Tau said in a tweet following his win.

So far, Tau has scored 13 goals and achieved 12 assists in his 33 games for Royal Union Saint-Gilloise this season. This is his second player of year award having previously won one in the last season of South Africa’s Absa Premiership.

Tau was on the run-up to bag the award alongside Union Saint-Gilloise teammate, Faïz Selemani, and KV Mechelen’s Nikola Storm.
