Waverley community initiative gets more support with visible signage
WAVERLY – The D and C Signs company have sponsored the sign to mark Environment Month.
As part of celebrating the annual Environmental Month held in June, the BabyYumYum initiative erected street signs to encourage fellow residents not to dump their waste.
This community parenting portal has been creating a greener environment for children and their parents in the Johannesburg north-eastern suburbs recently, as reported in the North Eastern Tribune article, Community gains pride [Week ending 7].
In celebrating this occasion, officials erected signs to ensure visibility of their work.
The first ever sign was put up on the corner of Scott Street. The site is a public parking lot which serves as an overflow for the community and has been ill-used by some residents.
BabyYumYum has committed to keeping this community space clean, with a monthly clean-up to ensure the safety of the kids and parents that use it.
“The D and C Sign company has sponsored the sign to mark Environment Month, encouraging users to keep the area clean,” said Amanda Rogaly, the parenting platform’s founder and Chief Mommy.
“As a community portal for parents with the best interests of families and children at heart, BabyYumYum hopes to create further awareness.”
The awareness is done through the ethos of #EmpoweredParents and #SharingIsCaring, and Rogaly said this is to highlight how each one of us can make a difference in impacting our communal environment.
“This should be done for Environment Month in June and all year round too,” she concluded.
