Annual Sesego Foundation’s Golf Day held in support of education
HOUGHTON – For over 14 years, the foundation has hinged on a model that enables a seamless mobilisation of like-minded people.
On 22 May, Sesego Foundation hosted their annual fundraising golf day at the prestigious Houghton Golf Club and Alexandra early childhood centres were the beneficiaries.
Launched in 2006, the golf day was initiated to raise funds for various projects operated by Sesego Foundation and once again it was an overwhelming success.
It was a beautiful and exciting day, with notable sponsors like Ford Credit, Vodacom, Orlando Pirates FC and Fidelity ADT highlighting the golf course.
The foundation’s director Charlotte Khoza said their partners are part of a large contingent of volunteers who are driven by a strong conviction to bring sustainable change to those in need.
“This year, the golf day was focused on education and Sesego Foundation has embarked on an initiative that will ensure 28 ECD centres in the Greater Alexandra township go through training on various modules that ensure the efficient day-to-day running of the centres,” said Khoza.
“On the day, the 28 centres were given an opportunity to showcase what they have gained on the programme. For over 14 years, the foundation has been hinged on a model that enables a seamless mobilisation of like-minded people who are willing to volunteer their time, resources and key competencies to make a difference.”
Compliments of Ford Credit, the players had the chance to win a Ford Figo, a 1.5 Titanium Hatch 5Dr Manual on hole 16, added Khoza.
Lucky winners in other prize categories and in raffles walked away with fantastic sponsored prizes, such as the Mandela book signed, thanks to Rotary Club for the donation.
She said the prizes included four days and three nights stay for four couples compliments of Go2Travel and a sapphire shopping experience courtesy of Ultimate Signature by Sancia.
During the prize-giving evening, Sesego Foundation guests joined and witnessed the prizes in cheques and the auction of a framed 2018 Lions Jersey compliments of Fidelity ADT.
In the past few months, the foundation has been registered with The King Baudouin Foundation United States, enabling US donors to support their favourite causes and organisations overseas and provide European and African non-profits with cost-effective solutions to raise funds.
Khoza said they made it possible for Sesego to reach and touch the lives of over 1.6 million vulnerable people in South Africa and Southern African Development Communities, and raised over R40.5 million.
