Free tennis session a success

CRAIGHALL PARK – Fitness, strength, drills and point-scoring are developed at a free training session at Craighall Tennis Club.

Get Set Match tennis academy hosted 12 youngsters from Vosloorus for a free development training session.

The academy, which is based at Craighall Tennis Club, saw coach Carla Farina lead the children through a typical high-performance training morning, incorporating fitness and strength, drilling and points into the day’s play.

“Every child that attended showed potential and we even had some top tournament players among us,” said Farina.

“Milo Thornhill-David came down to play matches against the top players. It was some intense tennis.”

Farina added that the athletes all worked hard and were exhausted by the time they left, but loved it and would not leave without her promising another date.

“We will be looking to host these events once every month to give these players an opportunity to train and learn valuable skills needed for tournament tennis,” Farina concluded.
