Police arrest 12 suspects and recovered three stolen vehicles

JOBURG – Police recovered three stolen vehicles and arrested 12 suspects.


Johannesburg Flying Squad successfully recovered three stolen vehicles and arrested 12 suspects for different crimes in various areas in Johannesburg.

The suspects were arrested following a successful weekend patrol conducted from Friday 12 July until Monday 15 July. From the 12 suspects, four were arrested for assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, two for possession of a stolen vehicle, one for shoplifting while the other four were arrested for illegal possession of drugs and the other one for common theft.

Johannesburg Flying Squad spokesperson senior personnel officer Raymond Sambo said the suspects are aged between 23 and 42 and were expected to appear soon in different magistrates’ courts. These suspects are facing different charges including assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, common theft, shoplifting, possession of stolen vehicle, and illegal possession of drugs.

“Stolen vehicles recovered are a White Toyota Yaris, White Toyota Hilux, and Black Toyota sedan,” Sambo said.

According to him, the police investigations continue in all cases. He commended community for working together with the police as this led to these recoveries.

He appealed to any members of the public for information regarding the vehicles to contact relevant detectives. “Members of the public are encouraged to continue to collaborate with police by reporting crime and any suspicious persons and activities.

“Information may be given anonymously by phoning the Crime Stop number 08600 10111 or calling the nearest police station,” he said.
