City marks one year anniversary of Bank of Lisbon tragedy
JOBURG – One year ago today, three brave firefighters lost their lives battling the fire at the Bank of Lisbon building in Joburg CBD.
The 5 September marks a year ago when three firefighters lost their lives in the line of duty at the Bank of Lisbon building in the Joburg CBD.
Mduduzi Ndlovu, Khathutshello Muedi and Simphiwe Moropana died after battling a fire that had engulfed the 23-storey building, which housed the department of health, human settlements, cooperates governance and traditional affairs.
About eight other firefighters were injured and hospitalised for smoke inhalation.
The City of Joburg posted on social media, commemorating the firefighters who lost their lives. The post read, “When you run out, they run in. Today we remember the three firefighters who lost their lives in the line of duty at the Bank of Lisbon exactly a year ago.”
