Joburg Market wins Shiny Red Apple Award

JOBURG – The award recognises excellence in the fresh produce industry.


City of Joburg MMC for Economic Development, councillor Leah Knott congratulated the city’s Joburg Market after winning the highly regarded Shiny Red Apple Award which recognises excellence in the fresh produce industry. 

The awards are decided by the Institute for Market Agents of South Africa (IMASA) and they honour individuals in business, market and market agencies who have contributed greatly through customer service, communication, upliftment, transformation and innovation.

The market is currently undergoing renovation after the City launched the R144-million People’s Market which will add more stalls and train future entrepreneurs and the youth in business.

Knott thanked the chief executive officer of the market Ayanda Kanana and the team for their dedication and success.
