The Halloween costume party unites communities
SANDRINGHAM – Residents from Sandringham and Sydenham suburbs are more united than ever following the Halloween costume party.
The Halloween house, trick and treat out of car boot event held in Sandringham on the afternoon of 31 October united residents from Sandringham and Sydenham.
The event was initially planned to take place in two suburbs with residents and children clad in Halloween costumes and visiting houses for tricks and treats.
“This, however, due to the distance, some children wouldn’t have been able to take part, it was either a very long walk or they would have had to be driven to the houses. Safety, children and community involvement was our priority,” said one of the organisers Sarah Tomaz.
They decided to hold the event in Sandringham which had more houses in a confined space and a park to accommodate all the residents and children who were involved.
Residents and children decorated their car boots, houses, garages, gates, doorways and streets with the help of Wendy Daras of June Craig Properties.
“The evening was a huge success and enjoyed by all, big, small, young and old. Thank you to Mari Goldberg and Conrad Bonorchis for getting our community together and allowing us to take ownership of our streets,” said Tomaz.
