Joint crime prevention operations during New Year’s Eve (31 December) conducted by the Metro police together with Hillbrow Police Station were fruitful in the Hillbrow and surrounding areas with the strong visibility of the police.
Metro police chief head David Tembe was also joined by Gauteng MEC for Community Safety Faith Mazibuko. He said the collaboration was to ensure safety in the inner city during the New Year festivities. Law enforcement agencies were also operating in Mary Fitzgerald Square in Newtown, including inspecting the Afropunk festival and engaging with patrons.
We are now at Constitutional Hill in Hillbrow inspecting @afropunk festival & engaging with patrons. People need to be responsible while having their fun as the year ends & safety is of utmost importance. #JoburgNYE19 #SaferFestiveSeason #OkaeMolao #BuyaMthetho pic.twitter.com/aktWLeCapK
